:: Saturday (08.13.11) is Football Equipment Handout Day

This annual event will take place at the SciCoh football shed, located in the Scituate High School parking lot, across from the baseball field.

Here is the football equipment handout schedule:

• Grade 8 :: 8:00 am to 8:30 am
• Grade 7 :: 8:30 am to 9:15 am
• Grade 6 :: 9:15 am to 10:00 am
• Grade 5 :: 10:00 am to 10:45 am
• Grade 4 :: 10:45 am to 11:15 am
• Grades 2/3 :: 11:15 am to 12:00 noon

(1.) Please bring your player so that they may be fitted properly.
(2.) We will also need a check, made out to Scituate Youth Football (SYF) for $300. This check is an equipment deposit and will be returned at the end of the season, when the equipment is turned in.
(3.) If you are new to the program, please bring along a copy of your player's birth certificate.

We have a limited supply of hoodies, flannel pajama pants, caps, visors + more.

Equipment 'Take It Or Leave It' Bin
Please bring along any cleats, practice pants, practice jerseys, etc. -- that may not fit your player but would work perfectly for someone else. No used mouth guards, please.

:: Football Equipment: What do I get? What do I need to buy?

SciCoh Provided Equipment

Scituate Cohasset Youth Football will provide all players with the following:

• Two game jersey’s – home and away
• One pair game pants with belt
• Shoulder pads
• Helmet / chin strap
• Girdle
• 2 Hip pads, 1 Tail Pad, 2 Thigh Pads, 2 Knee Pads
• 1 Mouthguard (not to be returned)
• 1 Pair socks (not to be returned)

Player Provided Equipment

Players will be required to provide the following:

• Practice jersey(s)
• Practice pants.  Note: Pants w/ integrated pads make practice prep much easier.
• Molded cleats (no screw in cleats allowed)
• Athletic Supporter/Cup
• Rib Protectors, elbow pads, gloves (all optional)

Equipment Return

At season’s end, all SciCoh-provided equipment must be returned.  With all equipment returned, the deposit check will be given back/destroyed.  Missing equipment can be paid for as follows:

•  Helmet: $100-$200 (depreciated value)
•  Shoulder Pads: $75
•  Game Jersey: $50
•  Game Pants: $20
•  Other Pads: $10
•  Girdle: $10

Equipment Substitutions

Players may choose to provide their own equipment and not receive SciCoh provided equipment during equipment handouts. It is up to the player to ensure that the handout receipt accurately reflects the equipment received by the player.

Helmets
All helmets provided by SciCoh meet NOCSAE standards and are periodically certified as required by the manufacturer.  As older helmets are retired, newer helmets (with evolving technology), are being purchased. Not all players will receive the same Make/Model of helmet.  Players may elect to purchase a newer helmet, at their own cost, for their use.

• Players/Parents/Guardians are responsible for proper fitting of the helmet. This can be done with the help of the helmet provider.
• Players/Parents/Guardians are responsible for periodic equipment certifications.  SciCoh will assist with certifications where possible.
• Helmets purchased must be consistent with Makes/Models purchased by SciCoh.  Please contact a SciCoh board member for options.

Shoulder Pads
All players will receive shoulder pads from SciCoh, which will be sized during equipment handout.  Players may elect to use their own shoulder pads, at their own cost, for their use.

• Players/Parents/Guardians are responsible for proper fitting of the shoulder pads.
• Players/Parents/Guardians are responsible for game day repairs. SciCoh will provide repair kits/replacement parts only for SciCoh provided shoulder pads.

Mouthguards
Players may elect to provide their own mouth guard. All mouth guards must attach to the helmet cage, per league requirements.

Game Jerseys/Game Pants
Players must wear game pants, jerseys, socks provided by SciCoh.
