:: Baseline/ImPACT testing urged for Players & Cheerleaders 11+ years

What is ImPACT Testing?

ImPACT Testing is:

  • A computerized exam that aids in the diagnosis and severity of concussions
  • An exam that is given to athletes prior to beginning a contact sport or competition.
  • A test that tracks memory, reaction time and processing speed
  • A means of establishing a " baseline "
  • A tool to manage concussions
  • The best solution to determining when it is safe to return to play.
  • An aid to preventing brain damage that can occur with multiple concussions

ImPACT is a 25 minute neurocognitive test battery that has been scientifically validated to measure the effects of sports -related concussion. In the pre-season, each athlete is given  a BASELINE TEST. If a concussion is suspected during the season, a follow-up test is administered to see if the results have changed from the baseline. Conducting baseline and post-injury neurocognitive testing using ImPACT help's to objectively evaluate an athlete's cognitive status to prevent cumulative effects of concussion.
